
Pep Lijnders has established himself as one of Jurgen Klopp’s most trusted advisors at Liverpool, and now the Dutch is impressing on the pitch at Melwood.
Footage posted on the Reds official Twitter account shows the 38-year-old coach bagging a quite sensational assist in a Liverpool inter-staff match, with Lijnders going on a mazy run that Mohamed Salah would be proud of.
It was a brilliant run and pass from Lijnders, and as you can expect, the video went viral amongst Liverpool fans. The assistant coach is a well-respected figure amongst the Anfield faithful.
Indeed, the former NEC manager has often been touted by Klopp as one of the most important figures in the current Liverpool set-up, with Lijnders acting as the German’s right-hand man since 2018.
The duo were key to the Reds Premier League title charge in 2020 and Liverpool’s 2019 UEFA Champions League win. And this season, Klopp and Lijnders are looking likely to claim one of the other again.
Liverpool secured passage to the knockout stages of the Champions League Round of 16 in November. Whilst the Merseyside giants are making the Premier League look easy at times as the Reds dismantle any and all teams who take them on.
