Celtic star Giorgos Giakoumakis confused Pat Bonner on BBC Sportsound with his role at Bodo/Glimt as Ange Postecoglou’s Parkhead side exited the Europa Conference League.
The Norwegian champions may be in pre-season, yet overcome the Premiership giants 5-1 on aggregate in the knockout round play-off. Celtic travelled to the Arctic Circle chasing a two-goal deficit, but any hopes of a last 16 place took a major dent after just nine-minutes.
Ola Solbakken nestled the ball into Joe Hart’s net early on, before Hugo Vetlesen deepened the Hoops’ pain on 69-minutes. The Bhoys looked shellshocked in the bitter cold, and could have conceded far more if not for £1m summer signing Hart producing two superb saves.

Bodo/Glimt overwhelmed Celtic from the off to claim another Europa Conference League scalp, having beaten Roma 6-1 in October. The Hoops seemed to lack ideas and often lost possession in dangerous areas. All in all allowing Kjetil Knutsen’s men’s confidence to grow.

Postecoglou also appeared to go into the second-leg of Celtic’s Europa Conference League tie with Bodo/Glimt with one eye on visiting Hibernian in the Premiership on Sunday. The Hoops boss named a strong XI in Norway, but left a host of regular starters on the bench.
Giakoumakis was one Celtic star Postecoglou let start at Bodo/Glimt, yet his evening only lasted 76-minutes. The in-form and confident 27-year-old forward failed to find the net at the Aspmyra Stadion. He also confused Hoops hero Bonner with his very defensive work.

“I don’t know why Giorgos Giakoumakis is coming into his own half,” Bonner said. “He has to stretch the match and get in behind the Bodo/Glimt defence.”
Celtic have now lost two of their last three games after Bodo/Glimt won both legs in the Europa Conference League. The Hoops had won 16 of their previous 17 games across all competitions before facing Knutsen’s side. Only dropping points in a 0-0 draw at St Mirren.
