Lee Hendrie questioned on Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports whether Bukayo Saka was ‘forced’ to say that Arsenal showed that they were ‘better’ than Viillrreal on Thursday, as quoted by Goal.
Arsenal were 2-0 down in the first half and were already looking like they were heading out of the competition at the hands of their former manager before the second leg could even be played.
And despite being down to ten men, Arsenal pulled a goal back through Nicolas Pepe during the second period, but the La Liga side should have killed off Arsenal a lot sooner.
Nonetheless, former Aston Villa midfielder, Hendrie, reacted to Saka’s claims that Arsenal showed they were ‘better’ than their European opponents.
“I don’t know whether he’s been forced to say that,” laughed Hendrie. “You have to say that the goal they got towards the end was a massive saving grace.
“I thought it was game over. I think he’s (Arteta) got it wrong all season. They just flatter to deceive. If it’s Man City, you can do that (play a false nine). But Arsenal cannot.”

The headlines will write for themselves if Arteta is dumped out of the Europa League by the man he replaced nearly two years ago.
Unai Emery was sacked for a lot less than Arteta and that’s what will come to bit him if Arsenal finish the season tenth and without a trophy.
But the biggest problem is how the club has been run, not just for a few years, but for over a decade.
The problems were here before Arteta arrived, and as long as the Kroenke’s stay on, then they will continue to take chunks out of this great club.
