Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Sol Campbell has been discussing Arsenal’s squad makeup and Alexandre Lacazette’s situation.
The French striker has been starting a lot of games recently and he even scored at the weekend, but despite his recent run of games, Campbell isn’t sure whether or not he wants to stay at the club.
Lacazette is entering the final six months of his contract, and Campbell believes that he may want to leave, while he also fears that he and players of a similar age may not be listening to Mikel Arteta right now.
What’s been said about Lacazette?
Campbell discussed some of Arsenal’s older players and Lacazette.
“Lacazette has been coming on, and I don’t know if he wants to stay. I’m not saying this is a transition moment, but you get this in teams, players are at the stage of their careers, where they’re still good, but are they listening to the manager? You have the young players who probably are, but you have those middle guys who have maybe five years left of their career, and they have their own characters, and maybe they’re not listening to the manager or putting the hard yards in,” Campbell said.

Stay or go?
Campbell doesn’t know whether or not Lacazette wants to stay at Arsenal or not, and to be honest, nobody does.
The Sun claim that Arsenal are willing to offer him another year, while Arteta says that the situation has been spoken about, and there’s even talk of the Frenchman taking the captain’s armband after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s recent disciplinary issue.
However, while there are signs pointing towards the striker described as an ‘unsung hero’ staying. He’s been strongly linked with a move away and he is free to talk to other teams in a fortnight’s time.
This certainly seems to be a situation worth keeping an eye on.
