West Ham United, Newcastle and Wolves have been dealt a blow with Gaetan Laborde effectively ruling out a January departure from Montpellier, while speaking to ActuFoot, via RTL.
Boulaye Dia is not the only Ligue 1 hotshot attracting admiring glances from the other side of the Channel.
Like the Reims ace, Laborde has taken French football by storm this season, scoring six times for a Montpellier side dreaming of a return to the Champions League after a decade away from Europe’s premiere club competition.
Laborde’s displays have caught the eye of West Ham and Newcastle, according to L’Equipe, while Eurosport suggested that the £11 million-rated, 26-year-old could step into a Raul Jimenez-shaped void in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ front line.
But it seems it will take something special to lure Laborde away from the Stade de la Mosson before the end of the season.
“I don’t have a special urge to leave (this month). If there is something interesting for me and especially for the club, we will see. It takes a good feeling. I will not go just anywhere,” said the former Bordeaux front man.

Laborde’s comments reflect those of his agent, who said that the striker’s ‘first wish’ was to see out the 2020/21 campaign at Montpellier before considering his future (Explica).
A skilful, hard-working forward who can lead the line on his own or as part of an old-school strike partnership, Laborde will not be short of offers next summer if he maintains his current form.
