Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after La Provence revealed that Mattéo Guendouzi is one of Marseille’s priorities this summer.
The 22-year-old spent the season on loan at Hertha Berlin from Arsenal, where he helped the German side survive relegation.
The Bundesliga outfit finished 14th, just four points above the automatic relegation places and two points about the relegation play-off position.
Now, the Frenchman will be returning to the Emirates Stadium, where his future remains up in the air.
What happened before he left?
Mikel Arteta was left unimpressed with Guendouzi’s conduct during the 2-1 defeat to Brighton in June 2020.
Football London claim that the Poissy-born midfielder mocked Brighton’s players for their salaries, in what was a far-from-classy move.
That was the last time he played for the Gunners. Football London add that Arteta offered Guendouzi the chance to apologise on numerous occasions.
However, the Frenchman continued to train alone and didn’t react to the treatment how Arteta would’ve wanted. Then, he joined Hertha Berlin on loan.

Unless Guendouzi returns to north London a changed man, and with the maturity to mend his relationship with Arteta, his future seems bleak.
In that respect, Marseille have a decent chance of landing their target this summer, depending on how Guendouzi acts back at London Colney.
It seems a few Arsenal fans below haven’t forgiven the youngster for his conduct last year, with some believing it would be ‘great news’ to see him go.
However, two supporters are keen to see Arteta hand him another chance.

Either way, Arsenal are in a good position. If Guendouzi returns with added maturity and apologises, then the Gunners will have a very good player back within their squad.
However, if he is sold, then his rising profile should at least see Arsenal receive a decent fee for the prodigy, in our view.
Let’s see how the Arsenal fans on Twitter reacted to this news…
