Bernard has sent an inspiration message to an Everton fan who replied to the club’s tweet on World Mental Health Day.

Everton’s official Twitter account posted an interview with the Brazil international, in which he reveals previous anxiety attacks and suffering before enlisting the help of professionals.

One supporter replied: Never seen anything but 100% given from this lad, @b_10duarte is nothing but appreciated at our club.

In response to this message, Bernard wrote: Don’t expect anything less, you always deserve our 100%, and I’m happy to be here.

His reply, and revelation that he’s happy at Goodison Park, comes shortly after he was linked with a deadline day move to Roma.

Bernard’s former boss Paulo Fonseca – who oversaw his development at Shakhtar Donetsk – wanted a reunion with his old attacking midfielder according to Laroma 24.

The report stated that a €7 million (£6.3 million) move was being weighed up if Roma failed to secure the signing of Stephan El Shaarawy.

However, no such move materialised and the Belo Horizonte-born player – who Spotrac say earns £120,000-a-week at Everton – remained on Merseyside.

So far this season, Bernard hasn’t made an appearance in the Premier League as competition grows for places under Carlo Ancelotti following the arrivals of James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

He has, however, made two appearances in the Carabao Cup, scoring and assisting in the win over Fleetwood.

It is pleasing to see that the Brazilian remained at Everton, as he offers Ancelotti an excellent, and committed, backup option when the likes of Richarlison and Rodriguez need resting.
