Speaking on the UMM YouTube channel, Harvey Elliott has claimed that he’s never even tried to beat Sadio Mane in a race.
The Senegalese winger is one of the fastest footballers on the planet, and Elliott was asked if he’s ever beaten the attacker in a race.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, Elliott’s answer was no, and he says that he would never even try to beat Mane for pace.
What’s been said?
Elliott spoke about his speed and Mane.
“You have never beaten Mane in a race?” Was the question put to Elliott.
“No,” Elliott said.
“How many times have you tried?” The host asked.
“Never, honestly, I don’t even want to try to be honest,” Elliott answered.
Even though Elliott says that he wouldn’t dare try to race Sadio Mane, he says that he’s been working on improving his pace for quite some time.
“Is your speed something you’re always working on?” The midfielder was asked.
“Yeah, week in, week out, with my injury I had other focuses, but now I’m back it’s something I want to prove to be honest, in the Premier League now every player is rapid, so you need to match it and be up there with the speed.”

Not worth trying
With all due respect to Elliott, it’s not even worth him trying to be as fast as Mane.
Mane has ridiculous speed, and sadly, it’s not something that a player can just train to improve.
Of course, players can become faster, but to reach Mane’s level is impossible through just pure training.
Luckily though, Elliott is focusing on becoming faster, and that will make him a better player in years to come.
