Manchester City youngster James McAtee is reportedly on the radar of Swansea City, with the Welsh side keen to sign the midfielder on loan.
According to Wales Online, the Championship club are one of 12 teams keen to sign McAtee in January. However, City are reluctant to allow their prized youngster to leave in the winter.
McAtee recently made his Premier League debut and there’s a belief around the club the 19-year-old would be better off staying around the City first team than playing his football on loan at a club like Swansea.
Indeed, we have seen Pep Guardiola use a similar tactic with Phil Foden, with results proving successful. The England international has become one of the club’s most important and best-performing players.
With Cole Palmer also making waves in the first team this season, it appears City are more open to allowing youth players to take an active role in the senior set-up. And that could mean McAtee is set to stay in Manchester for the rest of the season despite interest from Swansea.
The City Academy graduate is regarded as one of the top talents coming through the system this year. And, after the success of Foden, it makes sense McAtee remains with the Premier League club rather than move to Swansea.
City fans pray McAtee ignores Swansea interest

Indeed, McAtee impressed many supporters in his brief Premier League debut in November. And supporters on social media are eager for the youngster to stay in Manchester and continue his development rather than heading out on loan to the Championship.
Here’s what some City fans on Twitter had to say about Swansea’s interest in McAtee…
