Speaking on the Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin YouTube channel, Spurs legend Graham Roberts has been discussing Tanguy Ndombele.

The French midfielder was left out of Spurs’ pre-season tour as the London club look to get the former Lyon man off their books, and Roberts thinks that he has no future at the club.

The pundit says that Ndombele, quite simply, isn’t suited to the Premier League, claiming that no matter how fit the 25-year-old gets, he’s still too slow – critiquing his stature and running technique.

What’s been said?

Roberts was asked if he thinks Ndombele has a future at Spurs.

“No, not at all, not at all. I think the league is too powerful for Ndombele, I think it’s too quick. He’s not quick enough for the game. Go to Frace and you play PSG, Marseille, Monaco, Lyon and Lille, the rest of them you can play at 50 per cent. In the Premier League you can’t do that in any game,” Roberts said.

“I just think he hasn’t got that in his game, I don’t care how fit he gets, if you look at his stature he runs different, and I’m not having a dig at him, I’m just saying he’d be better in another league.”

No intensity

Ndombele’s issue isn’t a lack of pace necessarily, it’s a lack of intensity.

Let’s be honest, Ndombele is a 25-year-old professional athlete, he’s probably got it in him to be fast enough to play Premier League football, but he lacks any sort of desire on the pitch.

His running technique, of course, exaggerates this problem, but it’s genuinely tough to remember the midfielder ever breaking a sweat for Spurs.

Roberts is probably right about Ndombele, this ship has sailed for Spurs and he’s probably played his final game for the club.
