Ange Postecoglou has issued a warning to Celtic players ahead of the international break after their 2-1 win over Aberdeen.

Speaking to Sky Sports via the Daily Record after the Hoops 2-1 Scottish Premiership win over Aberdeen, the Australian manager issued a message to key members of the first-team squad that further injuries could cause further disruptions.

Celtic have been hit hard by injuries this season. Summer signings Giorgos Giakoumakis and Josip Juranovic are both on the treatment table. Moreover, club captain Callum McGregor has only just returned to first-team action after some time out.

Indeed, with Celtic securing their first away win in many a month this afternoon, more injuries over would be one step forward and two steps back for the Scottish giants.

With a handful of players jetting off next week, Celtic fans and Postecoglou will be praying that nothing happens over the international break. However, the Hoops boss has sent a stern warning to those travelling next week.

The Celtic manager said after the 2-1 win over Aberdeen: “The last break wasn’t really kind to me. I’ve said to the players, if you get injured on international duty, don’t bother coming back.

“The disruption we’ve gone through with injuries has made it really difficult for us. It’s crucial we get through the break without any other injuries.”

Indeed, with the Glasgow side heading into the international break with a much-needed win, a clean slate from injuries would be the perfect way to resume the SPL season in two weeks.
