‘Don’t blame Slaven Bilic blame the board’ says West Ham legend Tony Gale

West Ham United legend Tony Gale says the board and not Slaven Bilic are to blame for the club’s predicament.

The Hammers are at rock bottom, propping up the Premier League table after defeats in each of their opening three games with a minus eight goal difference to boot.

Speculation has been rife that Bilic’s job is on the line with owners David Sullivan and David Gold said to be lining up Rafa Bentiez and Roberto Mancini as potential replacements.

Supporters have turned on the owners after broken promises over the club’s London Stadium move and a lack of ambition in the transfer market and protests have been planned for their first home game of the season against Huddersfield on Monday night.

Reports claim that should West Ham fail to register their first win of the season against the Terriers it could be Bilic’s last.

But Hammers legend and Sky Sports pundit Tony Gale says Bilic is the right man for the job and that the board are to blame.

“It’s the players that have got to do it for him (Bilic) on Monday night, it’s a pressure game against Huddersfield, a real pressure game and they’ve got to rise to the occasion,” Gale told Sky Sports News.

“The fans will be behind them, but if it doesn’t start very well first 15-20 they might start to get on their backs but they’ve got to live with it, they’ve got to put up with this the players and man up a bit.

“I do definitely so (think Bilic is the right man for the job) I don’t think they’ve spent enough personally the board, I think you have to look at net spends and the net spend over the last couple of seasons has probably been around £10million which is probably the least in the Premier League.

“So I think the manager needed more backing in the transfer market. The last couple of windows weren’t very good, this one has been decent and they’ve got to give him time with these decent players. I think he’s the man for the job because West Ham fans like him because most of all, he cares.”

West Ham have brought in Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez to improve the first team but only Chicarito has impressed so far.
