BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND - OCTOBER 04: Dejected players of Liverpool react as the scoreboard reads 7-2 during the Premier League match between Aston Villa and Liverpool at Villa Park on October 4, 2020 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Gabby Agbonlahor stated on Twitter that Aston Villa’s 7-2 win against Liverpool is a ‘better result’ than Jurgen Klopp’s side beating Crystal Palace 7-0 win on Saturday.

In what has been a crazy season in the Premier League, Liverpool have found themselves conceding seven goals at Villa Park with Virgil van Dijk in their defence to scoring the same amount of goals against a Roy Hodgson side known for their robust defence.

Given that they are the Premier League champions, it was one of the biggest shocks in recent times when Jack Grealish and co. dismembered the Merseyside club in October.

And whilst some question whether Liverpool’s thumping win over the weekend is the result or performance of the campaign so far, ex-Villa man, Agbonlahor, put that to bed.

Whoever you are, whether you are a team in the Champions League or fighting relegation, to put seven goals past the champions is some doing.

The Reds will travel to the Midlands again next month for an FA Cup showdown, so it will be interesting to see what type of team Klopp puts out.

Usually, he rests players for the FA Cup and League Cup, but given what happened in October, will those Liverpool players want revenge?

Either way, even if it is the so-called back-up players start, they are now producing the goods in place of their injured stars in the first-team, so the task will be very difficult for Villa either way.
