Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to reveal that Arsenal have failed to hijack Manchester City’s deal for Atlético Mineiro wonderkid Savinho.
What’s the story?
Well, UOL believed that the Gunners were not giving up on a deal for the 17-year-old, despite the Citizens making serious progress in negotiations.
It was even said that Arsenal were exploring ways to make their offer more attractive, as Manchester City booked the Brazilian in for a medical.
Since then, UOL have not provided an update, and Romano has now confirmed that Savinho’s €6.5m (£5.5m) move to the Etihad Stadium is a “done deal” despite Arsenal’s best efforts.
You can see what the Italian journalist wrote on Twitter below.
So, it looks like Arsenal’s hopes of signing Savinho are officially over.
It’s a shame to lose out on the South American sensation, although it’s not the end of the world for Arsenal.
Arsenal shouldn’t worry about Manchester City swoop

In our view, Arsenal have more than enough gems of their own in the Hale End Academy, who could be just as good as Savinho – if not better.
Mikel Arteta can call upon the exciting Omari Hutchinson, who has shone this season with eight goals and seven assists in 21 appearances.
There is also Marcelo Flores, another promising attacker who has even been called up to the Mexico national team.

Charlie Patino and Miguel Azeez are also both knocking on Arteta’s door for more first-team action, having already earned senior debuts.
Clearly, the Gunners have more than enough talent on their own doorstep to compensate for missing out on Savinho.
