Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers look on the brink of signing another big-name player.
Speaking to The Scottish Sun, Coll Donaldson has admitted that he is unsure what Niko Kranjcar’s motivation is regarding a move to Rangers, but backs the “brilliant” playmaker to shine with the Gers nonetheless.
It was reported by The Mail on Monday that the 31-year-old is jetting into Glasgow and could be announced as a Rangers player as early as Wednesday.
He would be the sixth new face to roll up to Ibrox this summer if the transfer materialises, following in the footsteps of Clint Hill, Joey Barton, Jordan Rossiter, while Matt Crooks and Josh Windass also joined after signing pre-contracts in January.
Given his pedigree, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Dynamo Kiev man – who has 81 caps for Croatia – might raise eyebrows if he joins recently-promoted Rangers.
Donaldson has seen first hand how good the Croat is after sharing a dressing room together at, and the 21-year-old admits he is one of the best players he has seen.
“Niko is brilliant in terms of his ability. He’s up there with the best I’ve seen,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“I don’t know what his motivation is, when he was at QPR the gaffer left him out a bit and he was quite frustrated.
“But his ability is brilliant and if he’s able to show even half of it then he’ll do really, really well at Ibrox.”
Kranjcar, along with Hill and Barton, is certain to provide plenty of experience and that might serve Rangers very well on their return to the Scottish Premiership next season, having been absent for four years.
