There may be another name change on the way for UFC’s White House event after a suggestion that came up during a press conference.

While fans know it as ‘UFC White House,’ the official title for the June 14 card is Freedom 250, marking both the 250th birthday of the United States and President Donald Trump’s 80th.

Dana White has shown before how quickly he can move when President Trump makes a request. After Saturday night’s rapid booking of Josh Hokit vs Derrick Lewis, this latest interest in changing the event name could easily become reality.

President Trump said he is considering renaming the UFC’s White House event after someone suggested it during a press conference. The original idea was to switch it from ‘Freedom 250’ to ‘UFC 1776’, and Trump seemed to like it.

He replied, “That’s a good idea. I’ll tell that to Dana White. I will say, I’ve been involved with a lot of big events but I’ve never had an event that has had more interest than the UFC that we have right on our front door.”

“They’re going to start building about a 4,500-seat arena and then at the back at the Ellipse we’re going to have maybe about 50-100,000 people I guess.

“They’re building stages and you’re going to have massive screens to watch the fight. It’s a very popular sport – because of the White House and everything there’s a lot of reasons for it.”

He also invited a Doordash driver who had delivered an order to the White House for a photo opportunity and revealed that her husband is currently unwell. The President insisted that if he was feeling better that he could come to the event, which is said to be particularly exclusive.
