Donald Trump’s family is promoting commemorative coins linked to this weekend’s UFC event at the White House, with the most expensive version priced at nearly $12,000.

The “Freedom 250” fight night is set for Sunday, June 14, taking place on the South Lawn to mark both Trump’s 80th birthday and the wider celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

But the coin sales have added another layer of controversy to an already divisive event.

As reported by CNN, the silver and gold medallions feature Trump’s face and are being marketed as a collaboration between the UFC and the Trump Organization.

The website selling them describes the items as “Trump Coins” and claims they were “designed by President Trump.” Prices start at just under $250, with the top-end gold medallion, which comes with a holder featuring Trump and UFC boss Dana White, selling for $11,999.99.

CNN noted that the Trump Organization appears to be licensing Trump’s name and image for the coins, rather than manufacturing or selling them directly.

The event itself is unlike anything the White House has seen before. UFC Freedom 250 will be held in a temporary arena built around the South Lawn, featuring a lighting structure nicknamed “The Claw.”

Trump has publicly praised the setup, even comparing it to the Eiffel Tower and suggesting it might become a permanent fixture.

The fight card is headlined by Ilia Topuria vs Justin Gaethje for the undisputed lightweight title, with Alex Pereira vs Ciryl Gane meeting for the interim heavyweight belt in the co-main event.

The rest of the card includes Sean O’Malley vs Aiemann Zahabi, Derrick Lewis vs Josh Hokit, Mauricio Ruffy vs Michael Chandler, Bo Nickal vs Kyle Daukaus, and Diego Lopes vs Steve Garcia.

Donald Trump’s UFC event is facing a lawsuit

Legal action has been taken to block the event. The Public Integrity Project, representing Virginia residents Paul Romano and Susan Douglas, argues that the White House and Lincoln Memorial are being handed over to a private sports promoter.

The lawsuit claims the event is less about America’s 250th anniversary and more about the UFC brand and Trump’s birthday. It also raises concerns about Trump’s reported investment in UFC parent company TKO Group Holdings.

The administration has dismissed the lawsuit as baseless. For now, both the UFC event and the Trump family’s coin promotion are still going ahead.
