He added, “And he, you know, conserved a guy; he said, ‘I love you, Sir’, and I didn’t know he was doing it, but he’s potentially a great quarterback.
Trump’s defense came after Dart introduced him at a rally in Suffern, New York, for Republican Congressman Mike Lawler. Dart reportedly led a “Go Big Blue” chant before calling it an honor and privilege to introduce Trump.
That is where the controversy sharpened, because critics felt he blurred his personal politics with the Giants’ public identity. The moment also drew attention inside the team after Abdul Carter questioned it publicly before later saying he and Dart were good.
