Josh Hokit has turned heads with his latest win at UFC 327 in Miami, earning the attention of both fans and the President of the United States.

Taking place at the Kaseya Center, the event had several talking points. And Hokit’s rise from practice squad player to UFC main card headliner has been a remarkable story in itself.

In his third fight on the main card, Hokit got past Curtis Blaydes in a back-and-forth heavyweight clash. The win helped him climb into the top five of the division, despite having only three fights under his belt.

Donald Trump has long been a supporter of the UFC, playing a significant role in its early days by offering venues when options were limited, something Dana White often credits him for.

Hokit is surprised to hear he’s now Trump’s top UFC fighter

Back in 2024, during a live stream with Adin Ross, Trump explained why Khabib Nurmagomedov held the top spot in his eyes.

“Well, I think Khabib. Khabib was 29-0, and then his father died and he stopped,” Trump said. “I think he never lost a round. He fought many times, he never lost a round,” he added.

Khabib’s legacy speaks for itself: undefeated in 29 fights and widely regarded as one of the best ever to step into the octagon. But time moves on, and even legends can be surpassed in public opinion.

After his win over Blaydes at UFC 327, Hokit shared a moment with matchmaker Mick Maynard that caught him off guard. Speaking on Smash Cast, Hokit recalled: “When I was going to the ambulance after the fight, Mick comes up to me and says, ‘You are now Donald Trump’s new favourite fighter.’”

It’s not just talk—there’s action behind it too. Hokit is set to return at an event held on the White House lawn this June. The fourth fight on that card will see him take on Derrick Lewis. The matchup came together after President Trump specifically asked for Lewis’ inclusion.
