The Sunderland youngster will be hoping to kick on now.
Sunderland’s summer signing Donald Love has been speaking to the club’s official website after returning to action in the Checkatrade Trophy earlier this week.
The 21-year-old played the first three matches of the season – two in the Premier League and one in the EFL Cup – before he was demoted to the bench for the clash against Southampton.
After a brief showing as a second-half substitute in that match, Love has been overlooked in the league ever since and he will be hoping to impress Sunderland manager David Moyes any way he can in the weeks ahead.
He certainly did a decent job on Tuesday evening against Hartlepool, scoring the only goal of the game, and he has spoken about the importance of getting a long run out after a while on the bench.
“I haven’t played for over a month fully so to get 90 minutes under my belt feels great and hopefully I can kick on now,” Love told safc.com.
Love was highly rated at his former club Manchester United and he has the ability to make a mark for Sunderland’s first-team despite a slightly shaky start.
