Don Hutchison can’t believe that Arsenal could possibly sign Chelsea forward Kai Havertz before West Ham United captain Declan Rice and Brighton and Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo.
The former midfielder added that he would be signing both Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo before the Chelsea 24-year-old, as he told ESPN.
Added to that, Hutchison thinks Mikel Arteta wanting to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea is a ‘strange one’ because Arsenal are already jam-packed in the areas he likes to play in.

If the German international secures a transfer to the Emirates, then he would compete with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, possibly Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira for starting spots. And maybe the wide players also.
But whilst some have been left ‘surprised’ by Arsenal’s push to sign Havertz, the man that matters the most is Mikel Arteta and he clearly sees something that others don’t.
Nonetheless, with these rumours about Havertz sky-rocketing overnight, Hutchison shared his thoughts on it all.
“If Kai Havertz was the third signing and they got Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice and then Havertz, then you turnaround and say ‘that’s been a really good window’,” said Hutchison.
“The fact that this seems to be happening quicker than Declan Rice and Caicedo is a strange one because I think they have enough number 10s. They have enough wide players. I don’t think he is a number nine who is going to get 20-25 goals a season or better than what they have got.
“It’s a strange one, in terms of timing. But he’s a good player. I would be after Declan Rice and Caicedo before Havertz.”

Can Havertz rediscover his form?
A bit like Joao Felix, who has since returned to Atletico Madrid, Havertz has lost his way and he needs to find that road of consistent form again – Ilkay Gundogan lauded his fellow countryman in 2022 and labelled him as a ‘very relaxed’ player.
He has been deployed as a number nine at Stamford Bridge, but it’s clear that he’s not going to hit the goalscoring numbers that the likes of Harry Kane, Ivan Toney, Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins have this term.
But he does have the creativity to his game, which has gone out of the window, and perhaps Arteta thinks he can bring that out of him again and transform him into one of the Premier League’s best.
