It’s fair to say most West Ham supporters have been left distinctly underwhelmed after David Moyes succeeded Slaven Bilic.

Sometimes all you can do in these situations is laugh. Though West Ham fans might have tears in their eyes for an entirely different reason with after David Moyes took over from Slaven Bilic at the London Stadium on Tuesday morning.

Bilic was finally put out of his misery on Monday after The Hammers endured a miserable 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool at the weekend. And while the Croatian coach’s departure had seemed inevitable for quite some time, there is a great deal of surprise about the identity of the man who has replaced him in the West Ham hotseat.

Sky Sports report that Moyes has been handed a six-month contract – where he will be hoping not only to revive West Ham but his own managerial reputation.

Though former Hammers favourite Don Hutchison, who had two spells in Claret and Blue, is clearly yet to be convinced. In fact, he has rather summed up the reaction towards Moyes’ appointment with a single emoji.

It’s fair to say most West Ham supporters have been less than impressed by the news that Moyes will be returning to the Premier League after links with several big-name coaches from Julian Nagelsmann to Manuel Pellegrini.

In the last four years, Moyes flopped spectacularly at Manchester United, failed to adapt to Real Sociedad and lead Sunderland into the Championship.

On the upside, he can surely only do better at West Ham. Right?
