Don Hutchison has told the Weekend Review that he thinks Tottenham are the only club capable of signing Romelu Lukaku, if he was to leave Chelsea. Lukaku held a meeting with Thomas Tuchel, after comments to Sky Italy.

Lukaku, 28, has been heavily criticised by pundits and fans alike for talking to Sky Italy. In the interview, he shares his frustration at a lack of game time under Thomas Tuchel – and his desire to return to Inter Milan soon.

The comments saw him ostracised from Chelsea’s squad on Sunday, during a 2-2 draw with Liverpool. Speaking after the match, Tuchel said there was to be a meeting with Lukaku – and terms are now deemed amicable.

Discussing his decision to make said comments, Hutchison states that he does not understand what he was trying to do. If he wants a move, Hutchison says that Tottenham are probably the only club capable.

“I’m not sure what he’s trying to gain, if he’s trying to angle away from Chelsea. Who is going to be in a position to spend £100million? Unless something comes from really left-field.

“He could go to Tottenham, they could offer £100million with Antonio Conte. Romelu is an intelligent guy. I’m not sure of his end game,” Hutchison said on the Weekend Review, aired on Optus Sport.

Hutchison on Lukaku: Could Conte lure Chelsea man to Tottenham?

The chances of Chelsea already offloading Lukaku just months after bringing him back to Stamford Bridge is almost impossible. About as impossible as Daniel Levy spending £100million to sign him.

However, that could all change if Harry Kane does get sold. The England captain is happy at Spurs with Conte in charge – but a move could still come about as Spurs remain trophyless.

What is sitting in Tottenham’s favour, is that Lukaku and Conte have huge respect for eachother. If Kane goes, then Lukaku might be an option – but it seems incredibly unlikely at this point in time.
