Former West Ham United midfielder Don Hutchison has told the London Evening Standard that their signings this summer are the cause of their problems.
The Hammers have endured a horrendous start to the new season, picking up just one win from their first six games.
They are currently in the bottom three in the Premier League table and have been beaten in their last four consecutive games.
A number of factors have been suggested as the root of their problems, with their new stadium, in particular, taking much of the blame.

Hutchison, though, believes it was their summer recruitment that is to blame, picking out two players in particular for criticism.
“The main thing for me is the new signings,” he told the London Evening Standard.
“Andre Ayew I think is up to the level, but the likes of Gokhan Tore and Arthur Masuaku are nowhere near Premier League and West Ham standards.”
It is fair to say that none of West Ham’s summer signings have managed to reach the standard required yet.
Most disappointing is arguably striker Simone Zaza, who is yet to open his account since his move from Juventus.
His stats do not make for happy reading either; so far he has managed just five shots in his first three games and failed to get any of those on target.
Those are not the kind of numbers West Ham were expecting to get for their money and he, alongside the rest, will need to show vast improvement to avoid being labelled total flops.
