Pickford joined Everton last season from Sunderland for £30million.
Don Hutchison has told Everton’s official website that he believes goalkeeper Jordan Pickford could remain at Goodison Park for another 10 years, keeping him on Merseyside until 2028.
Pickford, 24, joined Everton last summer for a fee in the region of £30million after Sunderland were relegated to the Championship and he impressed between the sticks for the Toffees.
It saw him earn the number one spot under Gareth Southgate in the England side ahead of excellent competition in the form of Jack Butland, Nick Pope and Joe Hart.
He has four years remaining on the five-year deal he signed last summer and although he attracted interest from Chelsea this summer, ex-Toffees captain Hutchison reckons he could stay at Everton until he is 34 years of age.
“Everton paid the money for him [Gylfi Sigurdsson] because they know he is a player. He can handle the ball and play on the big stage. The price doesn’t matter because Everton believed he was worth it,” Hutchison said.
“It is similar with Jordan Pickford, those top players cost money. But in the long run, if they are at the Club for a number of years – Jordan Pickford could be there 10 years – then the transfer fees look like exceptional value.”
Pickford has started Everton’s opening two Premier League outings, but has failed to keep a clean sheet with the Toffees picking up four points after drawing with Wolverhampton Wanderers and narrowly beating Southampton 2-1.
Everton now go up against Bournemouth on Saturday at the Vitality Stadium, as they look to remain unbeaten against a side that have won their opening two fixtures against Cardiff City and West Ham United.
