Don Hutchison has claimed that if Newcastle United can pull off the signing of Sven Botman then it’s an ‘absolute steal’, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The BBC pundit added that Botman, who Newcastle are keen to sign from Lille this summer, is a ‘rapid’ defender.
During the January transfer window, there were suggestions that Newcastle were keen to add the 22-year-old to their books.

But he stayed put in France and Eddie Howe added Brighton’s Dan Burn to his backline instead and helped transform a previously struggling side.
Nonetheless, with talk about Botman possibly heading to St James’ Park, it’s something Hutchison backed on all fronts.
“As a centre-back, he’s fantastic on the ball,” said Hutchison. “Absolutely rapid. He’s a great age.
“He’s a player that can play in a two. In a three. He’s versatile and very good in the air.
“Sven Botman, if they can get him, then I think it’s an absolute steal. Take Man City and Liverpool out of the equation, he could play for anyone in the Premier League.”

BOTMAN WOULD BE AN OUTSTANDING SIGNING FOR NEWCASTLE
Newcastle aren’t going to sign the superstar players yet because they aren’t in a position to do so, even if they have the money.
But one thing they can do is sign the superstars of the future and someone like Botman would be an outstanding purchase.
The Dutchman would walk straight into Howe’s XI and elevate a side that ended the season in a very strong fashion.
It’s been well over a decade since the Toon Army faithful went into a summer transfer window where they were so excited.
