Do West Ham United need to make signings in the January transfer window?

Don Hutchinson celebrates with team mates during the West Ham v Watford Match at The Boleyn Ground, Upton Park on May 1, 2004 in London.

Don Hutchison has revealed on social networking site Twitter that he has recommended a Germany-based player to West Ham United.

The 46-year-old former West Ham and Liverpool midfielder, who now works as a pundit, has not named the player that he has recommended to the London club, though.

Hutchison is a well-known pundit and knows European football inside out, and it would be wise of West Ham to heed his advice.

Of course, manager David Moyes should not just sign the player that Hutchison has recommended without taking a proper look at him, but the former Manchester United and Everton boss should be proactive about it.

The Hammers could do with a couple of new players in the January transfer window in order to enhance their chances of escaping the drop to the Championship at end of the season.

Marko Arnautovic of West Ham United celebrates with Manuel Lanzini of West Ham United during the Premier League match between West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion at London Stadium on...

Meanwhile, former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has praised West Ham winger Marko Arnautovic.

Redknapp was impressed with the performance of the 28-year-old winger for the Hammers against Huddersfield Town in the Premier League at the weekend.

“I was in no doubt that Marko Arnautovic would eventually come good and now he has a manager in David Moyes who knows how to get the best from him,” Redknapp wrote in The Daily Mail.

“Arnautovic has taken time to adjust to life in London since leaving Stoke and has been lacking in confidence in the opening months of the season.

“Playing up front has stoked the fire in his belly and in the last four or five games Arnautovic has been as good as any forward in the Premier League.”
