Don Hutchison maintains that Everton did have a good transfer window, but says they should have signed either a West Bromwich Albion or Leicester City player.

Everton find themselves 18th in the Premier League ahead of Sunday’s game against Watford – despite spending around £150 million since last season’s seventh-place finish – and their early season struggles have already put paid to Ronald Koeman’s spell as manager of the Toffees.

It is widely held belief that Everton’s predicament owes much to the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, after his 25 league goals last time out.

And according to Hutchison, who spent two years playing for Everton, their problems could have been reduced by signing one of Salomon Rondon or Jamie Vardy, of West Brom and Leicester respectively.

“Everton did have a good window! Should have bought Vardy or Rondon tho”, wrote the former Scotland international on Twitter.

But while Vardy scored his sixth goal in 10 Premier League games in Leicester’s win against Everton on Sunday, Rondon has found the net twice all season, with one of his strikes coming in West Brom’s League Cup win against League Two Accrington Stanley in August.

Should Everton have signed Rondon/Vardy?
