Who is better, Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil or Tottenham’s Dele Alli? Hutchison was left in no doubt after Spurs thrilling victory over Real Madrid.

It would be a little dramatic to describe Dele Alli’s stunning brace against Real Madrid on Wednesday night as a ‘coming of age’ moment.
After all, Alli has been a star of the England set-up over the last two years, he has proven himself week in week out in the Premier League while earning successive PFA Young Player of the Year awards to boot.
Yet, there was something hugely significant about Alli’s match-winning brace in Spurs’ 3-1 Champions League triumph over none other than Real Madrid. This was perhaps the first time that the 21-year-old proved beyond all doubt that he can influence games at the highest level and belongs right at the top of the European game.

If only Arsenal fans could say the same about Mesut Ozil right now. While Alli is going from strength to strength, the reputation of the Gunners’ number 11 has taken a hammering in recent months.
And pundit Don Hutchison is in no doubt who is the better player right now – even if one or two with loyalties in the red half of North London may not agree.
Ozil might lay claim to more assists than any other player in the Premier League since he arrived at Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013/14.

And while the World Cup winner’s subtleties are far less noticeable to the neutral eye than Alli’s bombast, the latter achieved what the former has frequently struggled to do on Wednesday night – he inspired a victory over one of the greatest teams in world football.
