Don Hutchison has admitted that he would love the prospect of Newcastle United signing Napoli superstar, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this summer.
The all-action forward was one of the best and most fearsome players in Europe last season, as he helped Napoli end their 30-year wait to become champions of Serie A.
But when Hutchison was asked about the possibility of Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, he responded by saying ‘why not?’, as he told ESPN.
It’s probably unlikely, but the 22-year-old has been linked with the Magpies, with the club preparing for Champions League football next season.
There’s no doubt that PIF have the money to throw at many top players in the world, but then FFP comes into the question, as well as whether that player would want to move.
Newcastle are still at the very early stages of their long-term project, the main aim is to win titles and trophies, but that’s not expected to happen yet, as Hutchison shared his thoughts on Kvaratskhelia.
“What is it £88 million? (for Kvaratskhelia),” asked Hutchison. “Can we get him for that? £88 million? Absolutely (I want him). Why not?
“He is a great player. I think the owners (of Napoli) put a price-tag on Osimhen, what £180-190m, just to make sure no-one buys him.
“I think Kvaratskhelia stays another season. Why would you want to move on from being a Serie A champion? Go and win it again.”

Those marquee players will eventually arrive at St James’ Park, but they probably have to wait a while yet.
There’s no doubt that Kvaratskhelia fits into the mould of being a marquee and elite player, with Thierry Henry raving about the player and calling him ‘special’ for his performances last season.
Given the inflated price that will be on his head this summer, he will probably stay put, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see his talents on the Premier League stage one day.
