Former Everton midfielder says Toffees are getting a terrific deal if proposed move to Manchester United goes ahead.

Former Everton midfielder Don Hutchison says that Everton selling Romelu Lukaku for £75 million is a terrific deal for the club.

BBC Sport reported yesterday that Everton and Manchester United are closing in on an agreement for the Belgian international.

Commenting on Twitter, Hutchison hailed the potential club record sale – even if it means losing the club’s top scorer.

The deal is not over the line yet, with The Guardian reporting Everton anticipate interest from Chelsea in the striker.

This could drive Lukaku’s price up further, and on first look the £75 million appeared cheap in comparison to figures touted in the media.

The Telegraph reported in late May that Everton valued Lukaku closer to £100 million, a fee which would be a world record amount.

Everton do not need the extra cash thanks to the investment of Farhad Moshiri, but they would be silly not to push to get as much as possible if the striker is determined to leave.
