Don Hutchison has told his followers that it was his “biggest regret” in football not to join Rangers – while also praising the club’s move to sign Aaron Ramsey. Rangers completed the signing of Ramsey on deadline day.

It was the type of move that saw fans crowd outside the entrance to Ibrox on Monday night, as Rangers agreed a deal with Juventus to bring in Ramsey until the summer. There are reports of a permanent clause.

Kris Boyd has labelled the move as huge for Scottish football, and one that is the biggest since Paul Gascoigne moved to Ibrox. A real signal of intent for the Gers, who had lost Romania international Ianis Hagi for the season.

Taking to Twitter to respond to Rangers signing Ramsey, ex-Scotland star Hutchison applauded the move secured by Ross Wilson. He also spoke of his “biggest regret” in choosing not to join the Gers during his career.

Hutchison on Ramsey addition: Midfielder ruled out of Celtic clash

Following the arrival of Ramsey, attention has immediately turned to Wednesday’s Old Firm clash against Celtic. There had been hopes that the 71-time Wales international would be fit enough to face the Hoops.

However, given he has played just 112 minutes of football for Juventus this season, Ramsey will not be available. Van Bronckhorst stated he had trained on Wednesday but that he would be missing for Wednesday night.

But Rangers do face some incredibly tricky games over the next fortnight – Hibernian, Hearts, a cup clash against Annan and then the first leg against Dortmund. Ramsey will be aiming to be fit for those matches.
