Former Liverpool and Everton midfielder Don Hutchison has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney should move to Major League Soccer in the summer transfer window.
Rooney has been on the books of United since the summer of 2004 when he joined from Everton and has a contract with the Red Devils until June 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
According to ESPN, a number of MLS clubs are interested in securing the services of the England international.
Former West Ham and Sunderland midfielder Hutchison has suggested on Twitter that the 31-year-old should move to MLS in the summer.
Everton a better option?
Everton have also been linked with Rooney, who has operated as a midfielder. According to a recent report in The Mirror, the Toffees made a move to sign the forward in the January transfer window.
If the Merseyside outfit make a move for the five-time Premier League champions in the summer, then the United forward should at least explore the option.
Everton are on the up under manager Ronald Koeman and are aiming to break into the top four of the Premier League in the coming years.
