Tottenham Hotspur kick off their Champions League campaign tonight.
Don Hutchison has told ESPN that a Champions League win over Monaco will hinge on whether Tottenham Hotspur adopt their high-pressing game.
Wembley plays host tonight as Tottenham prepare for their first game in the competition since 2011.
But Monaco are no mugs and the French outfit sit top of Ligue 1 after winning 10 points from a possible 12, including a 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Spurs have been decent this season too and Mauricio Pochettino’s side go into the contest on the back of a 4-0 win at Stoke City on Saturday.
One of the reasons why Pochettino’s boys mounted a very serious Premier League title challenge last term was the high-energy pressing tactic employed by the Argentine.
And Hutchison has said to ESPN that the same strategy must be used in order to rattle Monaco in the capital tonight.
“He [Pochettino] has to play high-pressing football. If you think of Tottenham the way they played last year, they were superb. If they press them really, really high up the pitch then I think the young legs of Tottenham will have too much for Monaco.”
The visitors have a number of danger men in the form of Radamel Falcao and Joao Moutinho, who had been linked with Tottenham every transfer window for a while.
