Leeds United ran out 2-1 winners over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night to pull clear of the bottom three.

Javi Gracia’s Whites began the day in the relegation zone, but those three points lifted them up to 13th in the table.

Leeds fell behind early on at Elland Road as Orel Mangala curled a neat strike into Illan Meslier’s bottom corner.

However, the hosts quickly restored parity, with Jack Harrison netting on the rebound in the 20th minute.

The 26-year-old finished confidently after Keylor Navas parried Marc Roca’s effort into the Leeds winger’s path.

Don Hutchison praised Harrison’s effort, as transcribed by the Premier League website.

“Steve Cooper won’t be a happy manager,” he said.

“That’s a very cheap goal, but it’s fantastic from a Leeds point of view.

“Jack Harrison starts the move, Roca hits it from distance and Jack Harrison puts the brakes on to stay onside.

“It’s a great finish.”

Harrison’s goal provided the springboard for Leeds to go on and claim victory.

Leeds improved as the half went on, with the Elland Road faithful sensing another goal was on the cards.

This duly came on the stroke of half-time as Sinisterra produced a superb solo effort for the hosts.

The 23-year-old got the better of Neco Williams, drove into the area and struck into the far corner.

‘His best performance in a long time’

Harrison was thoroughly impressive against Forest.

Indeed, Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross said his display on the night was his best in a while.

“His best performance in a long time,” he wrote.

“Added an all-round impact to the customary goal he has been popping up with.

“First touch and dribbling quality we always see was finally hurting the opposition.

“Never stopped and got better as his confidence grew.”

Harrison and Leeds really have kicked on under Gracia and will surely fancy their chances of staying up now.
