Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli had a moment of madness in their Europa League clash against Gent.
The England international misjudged a challenge and went in studs up knee high on an opponent.
He was issued with an immediate red card, sent off just 38 minutes into the encounter at Wembley with the scores tied at 1-1.
Former Premier League midfielder Don Hutchison hit out at Alli, commenting via Twitter.
Alli’s tackle really left the referee with no option, and had Spurs attempting to battle their resilient opponents with 10 men for more than a half.
The resulting suspension will not count in domestic competition for Alli, coming into effect only in Europe.
Alli has been incredible since signing for Tottenham but he does have an over exuberant nature which he needs to control, and this will come as a lesson to him.
Prior to last night he had picked up four yellow cards in the Premier League and one in the Europa and no reds.
