West Ham United could only draw 2-2 against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Don Hutchison has taken to Twitter to defend West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic after the side let a two-goal lead slip against Crystal Palace this weekend.
The Hammers led 2-0 courtesy of first-half goals from Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew but Angelo Ogbonna conceded a penalty shortly after the break that was converted by Luka Milivojevic, and Wilfried Zaha’s last-gasp equaliser sent the home fans into a frenzy.
The draw heaped more pressure on Bilic but Hutchison for one felt that the blame laid firmly at the feet of the players, with three mentioned by name.
“How’s is (sic) Bilic’s fault when Zaba (two penalties), Ogbonna (pen) and Antonio (strongest man in the world) can’t keep the ball for 20 seconds?”
It is a bold move calling out Pablo Zabaleta, with the summer signing widely regarded as West Ham’s best performer by some margin this season, but he is right to pick out a below par Antonio.
The former Nottingham Forest winger has the ability to tear opposition defences to shreds – as he has proved in the past – and he really needs to be doing more, as do many of his West Ham teammates.
Next up for the Hammers is a home match against Liverpool next weekend and it will be interesting to see if they play like they did in the second half against Tottenham Hotspur or if the Reds’ impressive attackers go to town at the London Stadium.
