Tottenham Hotspur will be preparing for their Champions League second-leg tie against Ajax on Wednesday night.
Don Hutchinson has slated Tottenham duo Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier by claiming that they have been ‘amiss all season’ for the club.
The BBC Sport pundit urged the senior men to step up for the North London outfit and do a little bit more when Spurs’ already-thin-squad finds themselves struggling because of injuries or suspensions.
Throughout this campaign, Mauricio Pochettino has had to deal with two injuries to star man Harry Kane, injuries to Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son being called up for international duty on two occasions.
Speaking to the Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 Live (06/05/2019 at 8:40 pm), Hutchinson had a clear message for playmaker Lamela and right-back Aurier.
“When you look at their squad of players,” Hutchinson told BBC Radio 5 Live. “People like Lamela has been amiss all season. People like Aurier has been amiss all season.
“These are the type of players if you’re Pochettino, you must be looking at and think, ‘I can so do with these sort of players when everyone’s running on fumes’.”
At this moment in time, Pochettino will be preparing his team for their Champions League semi-final showdown against Ajax on Wednesday night.
Spurs are 1-0 down from the first leg and they will be fully aware that a win will be needed in Amsterdam if they are to progress through to the final.
If they do make it to Madrid then they will meet fellow English side Liverpool in the final after they produced one of the most remarkable comebacks in European history on Tuesday evening by beating Barcelona.
