Can West Ham United or Everton break the top-six monopoly ahead of the new Premier League season?
Don Hutchison has seemingly backed either Everton or West Ham United to break into the Premier League’s top-six this season.
The BBC Sport pundit lauded the quality of players Marco Silva and Manuel Pellegrini have at their disposal, as he praised nine players, including the likes of Bernard and Pablo Fornals.
Given the problems at the Emirates Stadium, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge this summer, a lot of fans are backing the possibility that the top-six will be broken into ahead of the new campaign.
Speaking to the Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 Live, Hutchison backed the teams outside of the top-six to make an impact.
“It can be done,” Hutchison told BBC Radio 5 Live. “I think there are teams with good seasons could [break into the top-six]. I think two of my former sides, Everton and West Ham and I look at the players West Ham have got. Yarmolenko’s back from injury. Anderson will be a big player, Pablo Fornals is an exciting player. And they still have players such as Noble, Rice and Wilshere.
“And then Everton when I look at their players. Bernard is going to have a better season than last season. Richarlison exactly the same. Sigurdsson’s a top-class player.”
Everton and West Ham won’t be the only teams backing themselves to cause some havoc ahead of the new campaign.
Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City and Wolves, who finished seventh last term. will also back themselves to finish in the top six.
As mentioned previously, given Arsenal and Man Utd’s troubles in the transfer market, and Chelsea’s transfer ban, it has opened the door for a team to walk in and make their mark.
