Liverpool have reported submitted a £74 million offer for Thomas Lemar.

According to Sky Sports (transfer live blog; August 28, 2017 10:50 am), Liverpool have submitted a massive £55.5 million bid to AS Monaco for French attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar.

French publication L’Equipe claims that the offer is in the region of £74 million, and will include €8 million (£7.4 million) in bonuses. The Reds are looking to close the deal at the earliest, and will immediately make a call to AS Monaco Vice President Vadim Vasilyev to speed things up.

Lemar has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, and the Gunners have had three bids rejected for the highly rated 21-year-old winger.

Arsenal’s latest offer was around €50m (£46.27 million) with Arsene Wenger recently admitting that the deal is as good as dead.

Monaco have lost a host of stars this summer, and would be looking to cling on to their star player. However, they are a selling club, and the offer could be too tempting for them to reject outright.

Lemar scored 12 and assisted 17 goals in all competitions last season for Monaco, and would be a fabulous signing for the Reds.

Former Liverpool player Don Hutchison took to Twitter to express his opinion, saying Lemar would be a good addition to the squad.

Former West Ham player and now football pundit Daniel Gabbidon said it would look even more stupid for Wenger if Liverpool manage to pull off the deal for Lemar.
