Kyle Walker-Peters has started every Premier League game for Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Don Hutchison has questioned whether Kyle Walker-Peters is ‘ready’ to be playing for Tottenham Hotspur at the ‘top end of the Premier League’.
The 22-year-old has started every Premier League game for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, including their 1-0 defeat against Newcastle over the weekend.
Kieran Trippier’s departure in the summer has opened the door for Walker-Peters to try and cement his place in Spurs’ starting XI.
But former West Ham midfielder Hutchison doesn’t think Walker-Peters should be playing on a regular basis for the club, at this moment in time.
“They seem to have lost all their quality in full-back areas where they had four quality full-backs,” Hutchinson told Sport Optus.
“Pochettino was chopping and changing and now you’re looking Danny Rose doesn’t create too much and Walker-Peters is a young boy learning his trade.
“I’m not sure he’s ready to play at the top end of the Premier League. So, he’s got some problems to solve Pochettino because he’s losing far too many games.”
The right-back area is perhaps the least of the worries for Tottenham and Pochettino because they need to get other areas of the pitch sorted.
At centre-back, Davinson Sanchez has struggled, whilst Spurs are lacking a spark in the middle of the park, especially with Christian Eriksen sitting on the bench.
On Sunday, Spurs will take on their North London rivals Arsenal, who have defensive problems of their own.
