Wolverhampton Wanderers currently sit at the top of the Championship table.
Ex-Wolves striker Don Goodman spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and insisted that he is not worried about his former side’s recent dip in form, suggesting that they are the best side that the Championship has ever seen.
The Black Country outfit currently sit at the top of the Championship table, six points clear ahead of second placed Cardiff City, and a further four clear of Midlands rivals Aston Villa.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have taken just two points from their last three games, and for the first time this season, questions are being asked of the Wolves players.
Goodman, though, explained why he is still confident in his former side’s ability to gain promotion back to the Premier League this term, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“I’m not being complacent. I just think they’re the best team in the league by a very long way, and I’ve seen every team play. Because of that and the cushion to third place that they have already I’m sitting relatively comfortable. I’d go as far as to say this Wolves team is possibly the best team I’ve ever seen in the Championship.”
Wolves now face two games that will go a long way to defining their season – Leeds away tomorrow night and a trip to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa on Saturday evening.
If Nuno’s side can take a minimum of four points from those matches, they will be in prime position to go on and secure promotion back to the top flight for the first time since they got relegated in 2012.
