Aston Villa ended up appointing Steve Bruce, after Wolverhampton Wanderers put Walter Zenga in charge last summer.
Don Goodman has told Sky Sports that he is absolutely devastated that Wolverhampton Wanderers didn’t move to appoint Steve Bruce last summer.
Wolves opted to put Walter Zenga in charge, and the Italian’s time at Molineux did not go according to plan.
Zenga has already parted ways with Wolves, after a poor start, and the Midlands club have now turned to Paul Lambert to take them forward.

Bruce, meanwhile, has taken charge at Aston Villa – and he has made an impressive start at Villa Park.
The claret and blues have lost just once under Bruce’s guidance so far, after he replaced Roberto Di Matteo in the dugout.
And Goodman admits that he feels Wolves missed a trick by not getting Bruce at the helm last summer.

“I’m devastated that one of my old teams in Wolves didn’t go and get Steve Bruce in the summer, because it is blatantly obvious to anybody that knows anything about football that he knows precisely what it takes to get a team from the Championship to the Premier League,” Goodman said.
“It exasperated me that Wolves didn’t try and get him, and make him an offer that he couldn’t possibly turn down, and he ended up at Villa. It was a no-brainer for Villa.”
Wolves and Villa are due to face each other in January at Molineux.
Wolves are currently in 20th place in the Championship table, while Villa are in 15th position.
