Leeds United have lost back-to-back games in the Championship to all but dent their automatic hopes.
Don Goodman has claimed that Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa was at his ‘angriest’ during his side’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Monday afternoon.
It was a day to forget for those in White because they may now have to settle for a playoff spot after their second loss in as many days.
During his Sky Sports commentary stint (22/04/2019), Goodman pointed out that Bielsa looked very frustrated on the sidelines because his team were blowing their automatic chances in the air.
“You can just see the frustration in Marcelo Bielsa’s face,” Goodman told Sky Sports Football. “There’s no doubt about it, it has been a below-par performance. Some would say it’s pressure inflicted by Sheffield United.
“I think this is the angriest we have seen Marcelo Bielsa. I think that’s for sure. Probably not angry at the fact that his team are losing 2-0, he will be angry at that, but I think the performance has been way below.”
It won’t be a surprise if Bielsa was at his angriest at Griffin Park because his team are slipping away at the wrong time.
Only a few weeks ago, Leeds were three points clear of third place and now the tables have turned and they are now three points behind Sheffield United with two games remaining.
The Blades take on already-relegated Ipswich Town on Saturday, and given their superior goal difference, three points will all but seal promotion for the Yorkshire club.
Those associated with Leeds will have to sit back and hope at the weekend because they don’t play until Sunday and that’s against in-form Aston Villa.
