HITC has explained Bournemouth’s stance on selling Dominic Solanke this summer as well as the striker’s position on a summer transfer, amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke was one of the most impressive players in the Premier League last season under Andoni Iraola.

The Spaniard seemed to get the best out of the former Liverpool striker as Solanke struck 19 Premier League goals last season for the Cherries as the South Coast side finished in mid-table under Iraola.

Solanke had an outstanding season for the Cherries and naturally, this has led to interest from across the Premier League in the English striker including from Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Bournemouth’s stance on Dominic Solanke explained

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing a new striker this summer and Spurs had earmarked Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez as the club’s top striker target this summer.

Another name they are understood to be interested in is Solanke but the North London club are not alone in their admiration of the English striker.

HITC understands that Bournemouth have not had contact from any club about Solanke since the transfer window opened and they are not expecting to lose him.

HITC revealed in June that Chelsea were considering a move for Solanke, their former striker, whilst Tottenham, as mentioned, have also been considering a move for the England international.

We have also confirmed Solanke’s release clause of £65million which can only be triggered by the top six in England – namely Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

However, Bournemouth are not expecting to lose Solanke this summer with that release clause certainly a hefty one.

Solanke’s stance on Bournemouth exit explained

We reported back in January that Spurs were keen on Solanke but a move never materialised, particularly during the midway point of the season.

Sources have told HITC that Solanke himself is open to the prospect of joining a Big Six club this summer.

However, despite his openness to a move to one of the top sides in the country, Solanke is also understood to be delighted with how last season went under Iraola and is happy to stay at the club if interest from elsewhere isn’t formalised.

Bournemouth’s owner Bill Foley was asked about the future of Solanke last month and was rather honest with his assessment.

I believe Dom is going to be with us this coming year,” Foley told the BBC. “He has a release clause, which is very expensive.

“We shouldn’t reveal anything about the contract, but that area [reported £65m] sounds roughly correct.

“I guess if someone comes for him, we are going to have to replace him.

“We have two or three candidates that we have lined up, but I believe Dom will be here next year – and I believe he is going to score 21 or 22 goals.”
