Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reportedly wants Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke at Ibrox.

England's forward Dominic Solanke celebrates his goal during the U-20 World Cup semi-final football match between England and Italy in Jeonju on June 8, 2017.

Rangers have been linked with Dominic Solanke in the summer transfer window, and the Liverpool striker’s latest comments about new Gers manager Steven Gerrard should encourage the Ibrox club.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers want to sign Solanke on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool this summer, with Gerrard reported to have made him his number one priority.

The 20-year-old former Chelsea prospect has been quoted as saying by The Daily Record that he “isn’t sure” if he will be sent out on loan this summer.

The England international striker, who earns £20,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, though, has spoken highly of Liverpool legend and new Rangers manager Gerrard.

Solanke told The Daily Record: “Gerrard’s a legend. He has done so much for Liverpool and for football.

“I’m happy he has got the Rangers job and it will be good for him. I’m intrigued to see how he’s going to do.”

Encouraging for Rangers

Solanke clearly holds Gerrard in high regard, and this does suggest that the striker could be open to working with the former England international striker at Rangers.

The striker is unlikely to get too much playing time at Liverpool next season, and it would make sense sense for the former Chelsea prospect to spend a year on loan at Rangers and get some valuable first-team experience playing in a very competitive environment.
