Dominic Matteo has praised Leeds United central defender Liam Cooper on Instagram for his performance against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
Cooper was in action for Leeds in their Premier League game against Fulham at Elland Road.
It was the 29-year-old central defender’s debut for the Whites in the top flight of English football, with Cooper having missed the opening game against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend due to injury.
The former Hull City defender has expressed his delight on Instagram at captaining Leeds in the Premier League, and former Elland Road star Matteo has responded to his message on the social networking site and has praised him.
Matteo responded: “Well done skip”.
Encouraging display
Although Leeds conceded three goals against Fulham, Cooper did play well at the back, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side won 4-3.
The Scotland international was confident marshalling the defence and was a leader at the back, although he could have done better for Fulham’s third goal.
According to WhoScored, Cooper had a pass accuracy of 81.6%, won four headers, took 60 touches, attempted one dribble, and made two interceptions and one clearance.
