Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United have lost their last two Championship games.

With Sheffield United winning on Saturday evening, Leeds United’s chances of clinching automatic promotion to the Premier League are virtually over.

The Blades have been brilliant throughout the season, but Leeds must be disappointed with their last two results which have allowed Chris Wilder’s side to go so close to automatic promotion.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side lost to Wigan Athletic 2-1 at Elland Road in the Championship on Good Friday.

Then on Easter Monday, the West Yorkshire outfit suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Brentford away from home at Griffin Park in the league.

Wigan were fighting for survival, and Leeds have a much better team than Brentford, and the Whites should have picked up maximum points from those two games.

Former Leeds star Dominic Matteo was at the game against Wigan, and he believes that head coach Bielsa got it tactically wrong against the Latics.

The former Scotland international has also said that he did not agree with the team Bielsa picked against Wigan and Brentford.

Matteo said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6:22pm, April 26, 2019): “I just thought possibly for the first time Bielsa might have tactically got it wrong with his changes (against Wigan).

“I have not agreed with the last two teams that he has picked and changes that he has made at certain times, very unlike him.”
