Dominic Calvert-Lewin has suggested on Everton’s official website that he has been shocked at how fast things have moved for him at Goodison Park.

Calvert-Lewin moved to Everton from Sheffield United last summer, and he has become an important part of Ronald Koeman’s side.

The youngster recently put pen to paper on a new deal with the Toffees, which will keep him at the club until 2022.

And Calvert-Lewin admits that he is surprised by the progress that he has made in his first season with the Merseyside club.

“I hadn’t expected things to move as fast as they have and to have played against the teams I have done, so I’m very grateful for that and I’m working hard every day to improve,” the 20-year-old forward said.

“I’m learning every day in training and in the games, so I can’t ask for much more.

“It only feels like yesterday when I was signing for Everton, so to be here now is a great feeling. My leap into the first-team was a bit quicker than expected and I’ve played a few games now. I came in with the Under-23s initially and I’m now really enjoying being part of the first-team squad.”

Calvert-Lewin has made 10 Premier League appearances in total for Everton, and he has scored once.

The England youth international started in Everton’s last match against Chelsea, which ended as a 3-0 defeat.

Calvert-Lewin could be involved for Everton again at the weekend, when they take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

If the Toffees can get the three points they could move above Arsenal and into sixth place in the Premier League table.
