Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin has revealed to The Daily Mail the advice he has been given to by manager Ronald Koeman.

The 19-year-old forward has yet to make his Premier League debut for Everton, but the teenager is a very talented and promising young player.

The England Under-20 international has revealed the conversation he has had with manager Koeman.

“I’ve spoken to him (Koeman) a little bit,” Calvert-Lewin told The Daily Mail. “He’s told me to keep working hard and to focus on my technique.

“I’ve got the pace and I’m quite tall, but he says to focus on when I’ve got the ball. Hopefully I can take that advice on and put it into practice at the next level.

“We’re definitely moving in the right direction (under Koeman). I came into the club and was involved with the first team pretty soon so I’ve got to thank him for that. He’s been really good.

“A lot of the young players train with the first team and are involved in matchday squads. He’s managed some great clubs and worked with great players. His experience is invaluable to me as a young player.”

There is strong competition for places in the current Everton squad, and it will be hard for Calvert-Lewin to get playing time for the team this season.

The 19-year-old is not going to establish himself in the Toffees’ first team anytime soon, but if he keeps working hard and does well in training, then he could get some chances.

Everton are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with 19 points from 12 matches.

The Merseyside outfit are six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and are in the running for a top-six finish.

The Toffees will return to action on Sunday evening when they take on Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League.
